Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a successful full-service boutique law firm in the San Fernando Valley. We are in search of an experienced Labor & Employment attorney. This is a remote-first position, but candidates must be local to the LA County area. You will be expected to come into the Woodland Hill office for major collaborative deadlines and must be available for in-person court appearances as needed. We are a very digital-focused law firm.
You will be responsible for managing your caseload, providing expert legal counsel, and advocating for our clients in various legal proceedings. Your primary focus due to the complexity of our firm's caseload, a strong foundation in litigation is essential, as you may encounter exposure to other areas of law. Our firm handles various types of litigation, including business, commercial, franchise, merger and acquisitions, environmental, business formation, construction, and petroleum.
Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of labor and employment matters, including PAGA, group actions, arbitration, harassment, wage and hour, and discrimination claims.
Handle all aspects of litigation from initial filing through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
Conduct legal research and analyze case law, statutes, and regulations to develop effective legal strategies and remain current on developments in labor and employment law.
Meet with clients to assess their needs, provide legal advice, maintain strong client relationships, and counsel them on compliance with federal and state employment laws.
Represent clients in court hearings, arbitrations, mediations, depositions, and other legal proceedings while effectively advocating for their interests.
Conduct and oversee discovery, including depositions, document production, witness interviews, and preparation and response to discovery requests.
Engage in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution efforts to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
Prepare cases for trial by organizing evidence, developing trial strategy, and collaborating with support staff and expert witnesses.
Review employment agreements, workplace policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance and protect client interests.
Educate clients on legal developments and emerging issues that may impact their businesses.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and a valid California state bar membership.
3+ years of experience as a labor and employment litigation attorney.
Strong knowledge of federal and state labor and employment laws, regulations, and court procedures.
Exceptional research, legal writing, and oral advocacy skills.
Demonstrated success in handling a variety of labor and employment litigation cases.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management abilities.
Attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a caseload efficiently.
Compensation/Benefits:
Base Compensation: $120,000 - $180,000
Blue Cross PPO, Silver, we pay 100% for employees, and employees pay for dependents.
401k
Three weeks of vacation
1-week sick leave
We pay start bar dues and all CLE.
Billable's 1800
