Paralegal

Career Consulting Partners has partnered with a large plaintiff-side litigation law firm that represents regional, national, and Fortune 500 companies across various industries in both federal and state courts. We specialize in Wage & Hour, Class Actions, Complex Litigation, the Private Attorneys General Act, the California Labor Code, and Labor & Employment. 

The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services including, but not limited to, document preparation and review; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, fact-checking; discovery responses; deposition prep and notices; reservation of travel; expense reporting; preparation and filing of legal documents; and trial preparation. Our caseload is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is organized, professional, responsible, and committed to helping us meet all our clients’ needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
• Draft legal documents such as routine pleadings and motions, affidavits, and interrogatories; file motions and pleadings according to judicial procedures.
• Research and analyze statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provide written analysis to attorneys.
• Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of their statements.
• Prepare, organize, store, and retrieve case files, including evidence, exhibits, depositions, pleadings, and other items.
• Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including attending trials and hearings.
• Develop and maintain records regarding billable hours spent on specific cases.
• Organize, enter, and cross-reference documents in a computerized database.
• Prepare discovery requests and responses.
• Assist general counsel in organizing and carrying out special projects as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3- 6 years of experience with civil litigation related to employment or personal injury law
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
